NO NEED FOR HAALAND AT BAYERN
Ex-Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is certain that the German Bundesliga champions don’t have to sign highly rated Borussia Dortmund hitman ErlingHaaland as long as Polish international Robert Lewandowski stays fit. Mario Gomez said this in an interview with Abendzeitung as he revealed that Bayern Munich talisman Lewandowski can still function well at the top of European football for several years.
Mario Gomez was asked about the possibility ofHaaland replacing Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena. In his response, the ex-German international stated that Bayern Munich don’t need Norwegian international Haaland as long as Lewandowski continues to score goals at the highest level of European football.
Polish national team skipper Lewandowski is widely regarded as the best striker in the world and the abovementioned Haaland is not far behind in second place.
Haaland became a sensation on the European football scene during his time with Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian league. Borussia Dortmund claimed a major transfer coup when they signed the Norwegian striker at the start of last year. Haaland opted to sign for the Germans during the 2020 winter transfer window ahead of other interested teams such as Manchester United, Juventus and RB Leipzig.
It has been reported that Haaland has a release clause which won’t pose a problem to teams keen on securing his transfer from Dortmund. The Norwegian hitman is said to have a release clause of around £67m. Big European teams such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) won’t have issues with the release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract potentially. However, the major problem lies with his annual salary. A lot of reports in the media claimed that his agent, Mino Raiola wants a salary of €50m for his client on a yearly basis.
