Mario Gomez wants to stay at Fiorentina
Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has admitted he wants to repay the club for his faith in him by putting in a strong performance.
The former Bayern Munich man has admitted that he is happy and enjoying his time in Florence and is looking forward to performing well for the club in Serie A next time around.
The 28 year old Germany international had a season to forget – his first in Italy – as he netted just three goals in his nine appearances for the Florence club after suffering from a multitude of injury issues. But he insists he has no plans whatsoever of leaving the club and wants to repay the fans and club management for sticking by him during what has been a very difficult start to life in Italy.
Mario Gomez has been linked to several continental clubs but the German has insisted he has no plans of jumping ship at this time, especially after the kind of season the team has had. And he is already excited about the challenge that awaits him and the team next season.
He said that while he was at Bayern, there were several rumors about him leaving for a new destination at the end of each season, but he ended up staying at the club for four years and he accepts such things happen in football.
The German forward joined the Italian club for a fee reportedly to be worth € 20 million last season and he wants to pay back that fee in goals.
He added that it is always the wish of the player about where he plays and according to Mario Gomez; he wants to stay in Florence for a very long time.
Gomez, who has been left out of the German World Cup squad, said he cannot wait for the new season to start.
