Mario Gomez to stay at Besiktas next season
Mario Gomez has hinted that he might be staying at Besiktas next season.
This news came amidst of rumours that Manchester United and Real Madrid might be interested in signing the German international. Gomez is currently on loan for two seasons from Italian club Fiorentina.
Mario Gomez has stated that he might well be staying next season and that his agents will be having talks over the summer with both Fiorentina as well as Besiktas. For the time being, he wants just to focus on winning the title with Besiktas, and he has urged fans to stay behind the team. Indeed, he wanted to clarify the situation as there were increasing rumors that he would be leaving the club in the summer.
Gomez told Besiktas supporters that he just want to play football and that he has not decided to leave the club.
A Besiktas board member last month stated that Mario Gomez will still be at the club next season. He said that the club will be holding talks with the German international ahead of the Euros and that he is confident that the situation will be finalized before the tournament. He said that Mario Gomez is an important player for the club and that the Turkish club will do everything they can to hold on to their star player.
Gomez has been in great form for Besiktas this season where he has scored 24 goals in 31 appearances. He also made 6 assists during the time. Besiktas is currently first in the table with a 3-points lead over second place Fenerbahce with 3 games remaining in the season.
He has also won a recall with the German national team, and he has even scored a goal in a friendly against England in his last match.
