EUROPEAN CLUBS WANT MARIO GOMEZ
A lot of European clubs are on the heels of Mario Gomez as they jostle to get his signature ahead of the new campaign, according to reports. The Fiorentina man has a lot of admirers, with a lot of top clubs included.
The player spent the last term on loan with Turkish champions Besiktas where he was impressive, scoring 26 goals in the league and helping them to glory. The player has returned to play with the Serie A side, Fiorentina where he has been since joining them in 2013.
The player netted two important goals that were crucial as Germany reached the semi final stage of the just concluded Euro 2016 in France. He was eventually injured and couldn’t play in the semi final as Germany crashed 2-0 to host France.
Due to the political unrest in Turkey, the player has vowed that he would not return to the country, opening restrained interests from a host of other clubs that are keen on landing the player.
Of all the clubs keen on landing the player, Goal.com report that Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are among the favourites, with the latest online betting suggesting that Barcelona are as low as 8/11 to sign the clincal German marksman. The spokeman for Besiktas has weighed in on speculation of a possible transfer as he said they are monitoring the situation. They admit that the situation is a little tricky and that the player is already in talks with Barcelona and Dortmund.
Dortmund have signed players in the transfer market already, especially as they lost three of their top players. Ilkay Gundogan, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mats Hummels were sold to other clubs but Mario Gotze returned. The club wants Gomez to join the attacking duo of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus. On the other hand, Barcelona have been linked with Carlos Bacca from AC Milan but they want Gomez to join Luiz Suarez in front.
