West Ham might make a move for Mario Gomez in the summer
There are media reports that Premier League club West Ham might make a move for German striker Mario Gomez.
Indeed, the latter has been in great form at the Euros and currently lead the German goal scoring chart at the tournament. It is believed that many clubs are interested in the player it is West Ham that might be leading the race at the moment.
West Ham, who will be playing at the Olympic Stadium as from next season, is keen to make a marquee signing ahead of the new season. They will believe that a player like Mario Gomez will improve the team and may attract other big names to the club. They will also be increasing their chances of holding on to players such as Dimitri Payet that may be tempted to move to a club with bigger ambition.
It is believed that West Ham manager SlavenBilic has been closely monitoring the player at the Euros, and he has asked the club owners for the money to sign the player.
Mario Gomez spent last season on loan to Besiktas from Fiorentina. He has managed to score 26 goals in the Turkish league and helped his team won the League title. He has made 67 appearances for Germany so far and has managed to score 29 goals for them.
SlavenBilic is keen to build on West Ham successful season. He knows that they have been too reliant on Dimitri Payet and that they will need to find alternatives if ever the player move to a bigger club. At the moment it appears that the French player will be staying in London but with Real Madrid reportedly interested in the club things could go fast once the Euro is over.
