GOMEZ WANTS CUP DOUBLE

Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez has said that he is looking forward to winning the cup double this season. Bayern Munich were beaten to the league title on consecutive occasions by Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich currently trail the leaders by 10 points in the division, which is one of the worst performances for the club in the last decade or so. Bayern Munich usually challenge and win the German Bundesliga title before going out to win the cup competitions. However, this season has been the front because they have been unable to keep pace with Dortmund at the top of the table. This was the second consecutive title for Dortmund.

However, Bayern Munich have the opportunity to complete a remarkable cup double this season because they have already made it to the finals of the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League. Obviously, Mario Gomez has said that the Champions League is far more important than the DFB-Pokal, but he wants to win both the trophies. Mario Gomez also has the competition for the top scorer of the year award to look forward to. He is currently in a competition with Schalke striker Huntelaar, who has one more goal than the German. Mario Gomez has 25 league goals this season.

“We are going into the Champions League final to win it, regardless of whether Chelsea are having a good or a bad season. I’d say it’s 50-50 at this point who will win it. We have to give our utmost to win both finals. Dortmund might have won the last four games against us, but the final is played on neutral ground and it’s all or nothing. We are desperate to win our first title of the season. I have never thought about the top-scorer title when I sat on the bench this term,” said Mario Gomez.
